Caregiver Resource Center

The Caregiver Resource Center is a “one stop” service point addressing problems facing caregivers by offering information, training and support to caregivers of the elderly. The center works closely with other County and non-profit agencies to make the service network more accessible and responsive to caregivers. The Center is a prime source for practical and comprehensive information, and can be accessed by calling 845-615-3724. The Center is dedicated to helping caregivers in the County provide better care for their often homebound, elderly neighbors and relatives. At the same time, the Caregiver Resource Center will help caregivers take better care of themselves.

Caregiver Training

Specialized training programs, including the annual "Caregiver Educational Series" and individual assistance are provided to family members and friends caring for older loved ones, and to businesses and their employees trying to balance caregiving and job demands.

    Caregiver Support Groups

The Caregivers for the Elderly Support Group was developed and dedicated to family caregivers regardless of the medical condition or type of disease the older care received may have. The Office facilitates monthly support groups located in Middletown and Newburgh. Call the Center for details. The Center has a listing of additional support groups for caregivers available at several locations throughout Orange County.

    Service for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

The Center works closely with the local “Relatives as Parents Program” (RAPP), which provides a variety of support services to those grandparents and other relatives serving as primary caregiver to children because the biological parents are unable or unwilling to do so.

    Respite Programs

A variety of community-based programs, such as adult day care and in-home personal care, can be accessed through the Center to provide caregivers a break from their caregiving responsibilities.

    Caregiver Resource Center Library

Educational books, audio-visual materials, periodicals and other literature on various caregiving topics are available for loan to caregivers.
