Per Diem Correction Officer
Must possess current Peace Officer Certification
Previous Correction Officer experience preferred
A) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of full-time work experience in any field including active duty service in the armed forces of the United States; OR;
B) Completion of 60 credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees; OR;
C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess at time of application and maintain a valid driver’s license.
SPECIAL NOTE: All applicants are subject to satisfactory completion of an extensive background investigation. Such investigation requires that all prospective candidates for employment be fingerprinted at own cost. Conviction of a felony will bar an applicant from appointment. Conviction of a misdemeanor(s) and/or other offense(s) will be reviewed on a case by case basis and may bar an applicant from appointment.
RESIDENCY: Orange County residency preferred
AGE: Appointees must be not less than 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
HOURS: Mandatory two 8 hour shifts per week. Hours are consistent with operation of city of Newburgh court.
