There are multiple farmers’ markets throughout Orange County that provide a variety of fresh produce, baked goods, cheeses, meats, wines, and miscellaneous crafts to residents, workers, and visitors of the county. Much of the food available at the farmers’ markets is grown or produced locally. As a result, customers at the farmers’ markets help to support local and regional agriculture when they buy the products provided at the markets.
On an annual basis, the Orange County Planning Department works with the Orange County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board (AFPB) to produce a flyer or postcard that indicates schedules and locations of the farmers’ markets throughout the county. This publication is distributed in several local newspapers and to various public locations. The Orange County Planning Department has also worked with other agricultural organizations to offer technical assistance in establishing farmers’ markets.
