Orange County Agricultural Plans and Documents
There are several County plans and documents that are important to agricultural activities within Orange County. In 1996, the Orange County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Plan was completed. This plan was designed to identify agricultural goals and recommendations for the County and provide a path to implement these goals and recommendations. In 1998, a revised list of recommendations was created for this plan. Additional information involving agricultural economic development for Orange County was compiled in the 2004 Orange County, NY Agricultural Economic Development Strategy. In 2006, Orange County passed a Right-to-Farm law that was designed to conserve, protect and encourage the use of agricultural land for the production of food and other agricultural products.
