Employment & Training Administration (ETA) Stimulus Offerings
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 is intended to preserve and create jobs, promote the nations economic recovery, and to assist those most impacted by the recession. The Orange County Employment and Training Administration is the County Department that will be the primary recipient of Workforce Investment Act stimulus Job Training funding. Orange County residents that are unemployed or underemployed should visit either one of our Orange Works centers (located in Newburgh or Middletown) to take advantage of a menu of workforce services designed to assist those customers. Each One Stop Center is equipped with a resource room with computer banks to assist customers search and apply for employment. The resource rooms include internet access, a resource library, customer service staff, and regular workshops to support the job seeker in their effort.
Additional services at the One Stop offer include Career Assessment and Testing, Veterans’ Services, GED and Adult Basic ED, Youth Programs; Senior Programs; Services for Individuals with Disabilities; Skills Training, Tuition Reimbursement(through OCCC, BOCES and other training vendors),On-The-Job training, Career Counseling, Skills Assessment, Computer Training and Job Placement and Retention.
The One Stops office can also assist local employers and industry clusters (Manufacturing, Health Care, Distribution, Hospitality and Tourism) in responding to their hiring and training needs. Orange County Employment and Training is led by the County Executive and the Workforce Investment Board (WIB) in setting overall workforce policy and procedure.
