The Orange County Traffic Count Program is currently facilitated by the Orange County Department of Public Works (OCDPW). OCDPW uses 20 traffic counters that are supplied by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) to monitor traffic for 250 road segments and 150 bridge locations throughout the County. Traffic counters are rotated, with 10 counters in use at a time, and roadways and bridges alternate count years. Count data obtained exceeds the minimum NYSDOT and Federal Highway Administration count standards. The traffic count season begins in March and lasts through November.
