2017 Mid-Hudson FTA 5307 Competitive Funding Solicitation:
The Dutchess County Transportation Council, Orange County Transportation Council, and Ulster County Transportation Council are pleased to announce the start of a competitive call for transit projects utilizing almost $5-million in Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5307 funds currently available to the Mid-Hudson Valley Transportation Management Area (TMA). The TMA encompasses portions of the tri-county region of Dutchess, Orange, and Ulster counties.
FTA Section 5307 funds can be used to support a wide variety of transit-oriented activities, including capital projects, and are apportioned to the tri-county area as a whole. Project proposals will be evaluated through a cooperative process administered by the three local Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs): the Dutchess County Transportation Council, Orange County Transportation Council, and Ulster County Transportation Council. These three organizations, with assistance from the New York State Department of Transportation, local designated recipients, and private operators, have developed a set of criteria to evaluate project proposals. The program strives to support transit projects that benefit the entire region and that:
- Enhance and expand transit services
- Enhance connectivity and accessibility
- Support community goals, and economic and environmental sustainability
- Improve system safety, security, and reliability
- Promote innovation to meet regional mobility objectives
Each project proposal must meet seven initial screening criteria, including the identification of a Designated Recipient in order to receive FTA funds (a list of . All applications will be reviewed by staff for initial eligibility and completeness, after which, projects will be rated by a TMA review committee using the project selection criteria. Deadline for applications is by the close of business December 22, 2017. All applications will be reviewed by staff for initial eligibility and completeness, after which, projects will be rated by a TMA review committee using the project selection criteria.
