The U.S. Department of Transportation has announced $500 million in available funding for large-scale, regionally significant transportation projects across the country under the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) competitive grant program. Applications are due October 16, 2017. Visit for more information, including how to apply.

Eligible projects for TIGER Discretionary Grants are capital projects that include, but are not limited to:

  • Road or bridge projects eligible under Title 23, United States Code (USC) (including bicycle- and pedestrian-related projects)
  • Public transportation projects eligible under Chapter 53 of Title 49, United States Code (USC)
  • Passenger and freight rail transportation projects
  • Port infrastructure investments (including inland port infrastructure)
  • Intermodal projects
