Motor Vehicles (DMV)

All Orange County DMV’s are closed per the Governor, until further notice.

The NYS DMV Website can do limited transactions online. 


Renewing your license and / or registration at one of the Orange County Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) Offices keeps 12.7% of the money here in Orange County! So...stop by or mail your transactions to one of our four convenient locations:

  1. DMV Goshen 
  2. DMV Newburgh
  3. DMV Middletown
  4. DMV Port Jervis

Real ID / Enhanced - Licenses, NDIDs

Please expect longer than usual wait times at all DMV Offices due to the increased demand for Enhanced / RealID Licenses. Effective October 1, 2021, these travel documents will be required for domestic flights, entering certain Federal buildings or Military bases (unless you have a U.S Passport).

Additional Documents are required to upgrade and in some cases, verification is required from Albany.  To prepare for your visit, please visit the NYS DMV Website to find your proofs.

Available Monday-Friday at Goshen from 9am-3:30pm, Newburgh from 9am-3pm (Thursday 10am-3pm), Middletown from 9am-3:00 pm,Port Jervis from 9am-11am & 2pm-3:30pm.

Green Light Law Driver permit written testing is available ONLY in Goshen, Monday - Friday starting at 9am. You must arrive early to claim one of the limited number of seats available. *Hours and seating limits are subject to change*

CDL Licensing

CDL testing is available at our Goshen, Middletown and Newburgh locations only from 9 a.m. to Noon, Monday through Friday.

Enforcement Transactions

All Orange County DMV offices handle enforcement transactions for conditional or restricted licenses.

The hours for enforcement transactions in Goshen, Newburgh and Middletown are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Port Jervis hours are 11 a.m. to Noon, and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Insurance Suspensions

Can be handled at all four Orange County Motor Vehicle Departments from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
