The Mid-Hudson Valley Transportation Management Area (TMA) is comprised of the OCTC, DCTC and UCTC MPOs. Urbanized areas of over 200,000 people must have a TMA which is subject to periodic certification by the FTA and FHWA. The Mid-Hudson Valley TMA was formed after information from the 2000 census indicated that the region had surpassed that threshold.
The Federal certification process evaluates an MPOs process, identifies strengths and weaknesses (as appropriate), and makes recommendations for improvement. The recommendations that result from the federal review are intended to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the planning process. The first certification report was completed in 2005.
