Located at the convergence of I-87 (NYS Thruway) and I-86, Orange County is often called the Crossroads of the Northeast. Eminently accessible via highways, commuter and freight rail, and the mighty Hudson River, we’re just 60 miles from Midtown Manhattan and less than 90 miles from Albany. Meanwhile, the NYC area’s fourth major airport – New York Stewart International Airport – connects us to the rest of the world. Orange County is ideal for telecommuting, as well. We have the digital connectivity you need with a robust fiber optic network, numerous highspeed internet options and wireless coverage that is among the most reliable in Upstate New York. Workforce Orange County is one of New York State’s fastest growing counties. This is reflected in a workforce made up of young professionals, industry experts, skilled laborers, and college graduates. In fact, two of the most rapidly increasing segments of the County’s population are the 20-24 and 45 and older age groups. More than 89% of the population has earned a high school diploma, and over 29% hold a college degree. The County itself is home to three colleges. Our workforce is comprised of workers from outside the County, as well. Orange County’s labor shed also includes Dutchess, Rockland, Sullivan and Ulster counties in NY, Pike and Wayne counties in Pennsylvania, and Sussex County in New Jersey. 22 percent of Orange’s workforce commutes from outside the County.
