The Office of Assigned Counsel (OAC) is committed to offering Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses and training programs to Panel Attorneys free of charge in order to support our mission of training the Panel to provide the highest quality legal representation possible. 

The OAC will conduct periodic live training seminars on various legal topics pertinent to representing defendants in various stages of criminal and appellate proceedings. Furthermore, the OAC will also coordinate with other CLE providers including but not limited to the NYS Defenders Assocation (NYSDA), the NYS Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NYSACDL), the NYS Bar Association (NYSDA) and the Hudson Valley Regional Immigration Assistance Center (RIAC) to provide access to live and online CLE programs to enhance their skills. 

The OAC will communicate with Panel Attorneys regarding these programs and coordinate sign up and scheduling. Future opportunities to attend live or online programs will be communicated to Panel Attorneys via e-mail and posted on our web page. 

If a Panel Attorney has a program that they would like to attend please contact our office and we will review the program for approval. This open communication will allow us not only to help an individual Panel Attorney attend a relevant program but make our office aware of other worthwhile training opportunities that can be shared with the entire Panel.
