Transfer Station Holiday Hours

All Orange County Transfer Stations will be closed  Monday February 19th in observance of Washington's Birthday.

Electronics Waste Recycling

For Residents and Businesses, Municipalities, Farms and Schools - As of August 2, 2017 Orange County will expand the collection of electronics waste at Transfer Station Number 1 in New Hampton and Transfer Station Number 2 in Newburgh to include the following, which will be accepted for free:

  • Cable boxes
  • Cables and power adaptors
  • Computers, monitors and other computer peripherals
  • Digital media players
  • Digital storage devices
  • DVD players
  • DVRs
  • E-readers
  • Fax machines
  • Laptops
  • Printers
  • Scanners
  • Small scale servers
  • Smart phones and cell phones
  • Stereos and stereo equipment
  • Tablets
  • TVs ($5 each until 12/31/17, as of 1/1/18, $10 each)
  • VCRs
  • Video game consoles

Businesses, Municipalities, Farms and Schools need to call our Recycling Coordinator at (845) 291-3246 to schedule electronics recycling.  We need an inventory of what is being recycled and a C7 form for Transfer Station #1 in New Hampton or Transfer Station #2 in Newburgh.  See document below:

Items Not Accepted as Recyclable

Electronic Items not accepted as recycling are:

  • Alkaline batteries (solid waste)
  • Broken CRT glass (solid waste) 
  • Light bulbs (CFL bulbs accepted at Home Depot & Lowes.  CFL Tubes can be disposed of as Household Hazardous Waste).
  • Small appliances (solid waste)
  • Smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors (see related documents below)
  • Vacuum cleaners (solid waste)
