About Us
The mission of the County Health Department is to monitor, protect and promote public health within the framework of the New York State Public Health law.

Environmental Health
Engineers, public health sanitarians and support staff carry out activities under the New York State Sanitary Code to prevent and control environmental threats to public health.

Intervention Services
The Intervention Services Division provides services for developmentally delayed and physically handicapped children from birth through age 5.

Community Health Outreach
The Community Health Outreach (CHO) Division provides outreach, information and referral to individuals who are at high risk of contracting chronic or communicable disease, or who require medical management for acute or chronic health problems.

Public Health Nursing
The Public Health Nursing Division includes skilled nurses and support staff who provide services to prevent and control communicable and chronic disease.

Health Equity
The division of Health Equity is responsible for implementing strategies and policies that help eliminate health disparities among racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic minorities in Orange County.

Emergency Preparedness
This Office prepares for and responds to public health emergencies. It works closely with the Medical Reserve Corps, and with County, State and regional agencies to coordinate responses to disasters.

Medical Examiner
The Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office investigates sudden, unexpected, and unnatural fatalities in Orange County in order to ensure accurate cause and manner of death certification.
