The Orange County Fire Training Center opened in October of 1991. The facility consists of an administration building which houses offices of the Fire Training Coordinator, Fire Investigation Unit, Hazardous Materials Response Team, and Technical Rescue Team in addition to class rooms and administrative space for Fire Training.
The outside evolution area consists of a three story burn building, five story high-rise building, SCBA Maze Building, Railroad Tank Car, Flammable / Hazardous Liquid Trailer, Industrial Hazardous Material Storage Tank, Drafting Pond and several concrete pads where evolutions such as vehicle extrication, Hazardous Materials, etc. can be staged.
The class rooms and outside evolution areas are used by Fire, Police (State, Sheriff and Local) and Emergency Medical Services personnel to conduct training. In addition, all county government agencies use the facility to conduct in-service training such as fire extinguisher training, confined space safety, emergency vehicle operation, defensive driving, first aid, safety awareness classes, etc.
Operating hours of the Fire Training Center are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Open weeknights from 6:30 to 10:30 pm when classes are in session or requested by FD's for drill. Saturday and Sundays are available to fire agencies upon request.
