Goshen, N.Y. – Girl Scouts Troop 12 from Cornwall generously donated 80 boxes of Girl Scouts cookies to benefit the Office for the Aging’s (OFA) Senior Meals Program during the COVID-19 crisis on Thursday, May 7th.
Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus and OFA Director AnnMarie Maglione accepted the donation from Troop 12 leader Victoria Halfpenny and Girl Scout Kaci Kuhn, a fourth-grader at Willow Avenue Elementary School in Cornwall, at Thomas Bull Memorial Park in Montgomery.
Halfpenny, a New Windsor resident, has volunteered with the Senior Meals Program for five years. She coordinated with Maglione to distribute the cookies with home-delivered meals.
“We are proud to accept this donation from the Girl Scouts and appreciate that Troop 12 has taken such an interest in the County’s Senior Meals Program,” Neuhaus said. “It was a pleasure meeting Kaci and I want to thank the Girl Scouts from Troop 12 for their dedication to the community.”
Maglione added: “I’m so grateful to Victoria and the girls in Troop 12 for their generous donation. At a time like this when we are all socially isolating, this random act of kindness will bring smiles to many older adults knowing that someone is thinking of them.”
The Office for the Aging’s Senior Meals program helps provide seniors with fresh, nutritious meals. During the COVID-19 crisis, the State has waived the over 60 regulations for the Office for the Aging and they have been assisting the needy of all ages in Orange County.
