Goshen, N.Y. – Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus announced that the Winding Hills Campground will open for the season on Tuesday, May 26th.
Winding Hills is located just off State Route 17K on the Montgomery/Crawford border. Governor Cuomo recently announced that campgrounds and RV Parks statewide can open.
“Camping is a great way to spend some quality time with family and friends,” Neuhaus said. “Winding Hills is a beautiful campground and offers many different activities for campers. I’m sure it will be another great season at Winding Hills this summer and we look forward to seeing campers throughout the season.”
While the number of COVID-19 cases is decreasing in Orange County, campers are urged to wear face coverings, wash hands regularly, and take necessary social distancing measures at the park.
“Winding Hills is scenic and relaxing, which makes for the perfect getaway,” said Chairman of the Orange County Legislature Steve Brescia, a Montgomery resident. “While in the Montgomery area, we invite guests to safely visit some of our local businesses, including our farmers’ markets and other small businesses, which are open for takeout and curbside pickup.”
Winding Hills features 51 campsites for varying levels of camping, from basic tent camping to RV sites. There are a number of locations with electric access and all sites are located close to restroom and play area facilities. Campers can also take advantage of the trail system located throughout the 518-acre park, as well as boat rentals that are available on weekends on Diamond Lake.
“Winding Hills Campground provides a wonderful opportunity to get out and enjoy the great outdoors right here in Orange County,” County Parks Commissioner Jim Brooks said. “We look forward to campers utilizing the park in a safe manner, adhering to and respecting social distancing guidelines.”
