[ARCHIVED] County Executive Neuhaus honored by Goshen Lions Club with Uplinger Award

Goshen, N.Y. – The Goshen Lions Club presented Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus with the prestigious Robert J. Uplinger (RJU) Service Award on Wednesday, September 15th at Delancey’s in Goshen.

Neuhaus was honored for his eight years of service as County Executive and for his response during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I am humbled to receive this award and have enjoyed working closely with the Goshen Lions Club for many years,” Neuhaus said. “Lions Clubs throughout Orange County care deeply about their communities and perform wonderful work for our residents. The Goshen Lions Club has had a positive impact on thousands of people and their hard work is appreciated, especially during these times. I look forward to working with the Goshen Lions Club on programs and initiatives that will benefit the community for years to come, and I thank them for this thoughtful recognition.”

Established in 1993, the RJU Service Award is presented to a Lion or non-Lion member of the community who has demonstrated a commitment to service over a period and who embodies the ideals of the Lions motto: “We Serve.” Robert J. Uplinger became a member of the Syracuse Lions Club in 1946 where he served as Club President, Zone Chairman, and District Governor.

Uplinger became a Lions International Director in 1964-66 and then he was elected to the prominent office as Lions International President in 1971-72. For more information, about Lions Clubs go to
