Goshen, N.Y. – Orange County Deputy Clerk Kelly Eskew and LiveOnNY hosted a Donor Registration Day on Thursday, October 7th at the DMV office at the Government Center.

“Organ donations save lives, and we always enjoy partnering with LiveOnNY for this important initiative,” Eskew said. “We look forward to helping educate Orange County residents about how they can make a huge impact on other people’s lives by becoming an organ donor. I’m proud that our DMV staff has been so enthusiastic about raising awareness and promoting this important and worthwhile program.”

The County Clerk’s office has enjoyed working closely with LiveOnNY to promote organ donor enrollment at the Naturalization Ceremonies, and during Organ Donor Month in April. One organ donor can save up to eight lives and one tissue donor can improve the lives of up to 50 people. More than one million lifesaving and life-improving tissue and corneal transplants are performed each year.

“I thank Deputy County Clerk Eskew and the County Clerk’s Office for raising awareness about the importance of choosing to be an organ donor,” Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus said. “Enrolling in the organ donor registry is easy to do and can really make a difference. Residents can register at DMV when they obtain or renew a driver’s license, or at the Board of Elections office when they register to vote.”

Residents can enroll in the Donate Life Registry electronically at dmv.ny.gov or LiveOnNy.org. Enrolling in the Donate Life Registry ensures that an individual’s wishes about donation will be known at the time of his or her death.
