Goshen, N.Y. – Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus has announced that the County will hand out free COVID-19 rapid tests at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 8th in the Town of Newburgh and the Cities of Port Jervis and Middletown.
There will be a limit of two kits (four tests) per vehicle. These events are for Orange County residents only and will be held while supplies last. The locations for the distributions are:
City of Middletown: Fei Tian College across from 140 Monhagen Avenue. Please use the entrance to the former Middletown Psychiatric Center.
City of Port Jervis: Port Jervis High School, located at 10 Route 209.
Town of Newburgh: Meadow Hill Elementary School, located at 124 Meadow Hill Road in Newburgh.
“These test kits are convenient and can help screen for COVID positive cases,” Neuhaus said. “I want to thank the leadership and staff of the Cities of Middletown and Port Jervis and the Town of Newburgh for their help in providing these test kits to residents and for their continued dedicated work and resiliency during the COVID-19 pandemic. The ongoing public health emergency has solidified the importance of my partnership with our municipalities and the work we do together for the community.”
Neuhaus said that the County will set up additional test kit distribution sites throughout Orange County as early as next week.
Last month, New York State delivered 15,845 boxes of COVID-19 test kits to Orange-Ulster BOCES on behalf of Orange County for distribution to local schools. The County distributed 3,000 test kits to residents on Christmas Eve and 10,000 kits to Orange County municipalities on Friday, December 31st. The County distributed 10,000 kits at the County’s Emergency Services Center on Thursday, Jan. 6th.
