Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus defeated his good friend, Rockland County Executive Ed Day, in a three-lap exhibition go-kart race on Thursday, January 27th at the
Autobahn Indoor Speedway at the Palisades Mall in Nyack.
Neuhaus vs. Day was part of the Charitable Pro-Am Races which benefited Penguin Plunge, a Rockland County organization that helps the families of seriously ill children pay for medical bills and other expenses. Approximately $10,000 was raised at the event, which Orange County Fair Speedway helped organize and Orange and Rockland Utilities sponsored.
“I jumped into the lead early in the race and held on from there to take the checkered flag,” Neuhaus said with a smile after receiving his first-place medal on the podium. “The race was good-spirited and I had a lot of fun with Ed at the track tonight. The event supported a great cause and I want to thank Ed for inviting me to participate in it. It was a lot of fun being on the track and racing.”
