Goshen, N.Y. – Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus and Veterans Service Agency Director Christian Farrell hosted two free showings of the new, highly-acclaimed movie “Top Gun: Maverick” on Tuesday, May 31st at Flagship Premium Cinemas in Monroe.

The County coordinated the event with Flagship Premium Cinemas, ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc., Town of Monroe Supervisor Tony Cardone and the Monroe Town Board. Orange County Legislator Pete Tuohy also attended the movie showings.

Ed Magryta, Orange County’s Director of Aviation, spoke briefly with the audience before each movie showing. Commander Magryta served as a U.S. Naval aviator from 1986 to 1991 and in the Reserves from 1992-to 2006.

“We had a great turnout of veterans and their guests at both showings,” Neuhaus said. “The event gave our local veterans a chance to spend some time with their peers and fellow service members. We were glad to be able to host them, and all who attended enjoyed the movie and had a good time. I am grateful to everyone who collaborated to organize this wonderful event.”

Top Gun: Maverick is the sequel to the 1986 hit “Top Gun.” The film stars Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris and Val Kilmer. Cruise and Kilmer reprise their roles from the first film.
