District Attorney Hoovler Announces Weapon Charges

Newburgh Man charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree

For “MAC 10” Pistol

Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that on Monday, January 23, 2023, Antoine Ford, age 39, of Newburgh, was arraigned in Orange County Court on an indictment charging him with crimes including Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, for illegally possessing an operable and loaded firearm. It is alleged that on December 30, 2022, at approximately 10:00 a.m., outside in the vicinity of 233 Broadway, in the City of Newburgh, Ford possessed a .45 caliber Ingram MAC-10 pistol, which he was aiming at another person. Ford remains incarcerated after an Orange County Court Judge set bail in the amount of  $25,000.00 cash bail, $50,000.00 secured bond, or $100,000.00 partially secured bond.  Ford  is next scheduled to appear in court on March 6, 2023.

District Attorney Hoovler thanked the City of Newburgh Police Department for their fast response and the arrest of Ford.

“The residents of the City of Newburgh should not have to tolerate anyone brazenly brandishing an illegally possessed and dangerous weapon on their streets in broad daylight,” said District Attorney David M. Hoovler. “My Office will continue to work our law enforcement partners to prosecute those who illegally possess firearms.”

The case is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Kellie Grimmer.

This criminal charge is merely an allegation that a defendant has committed a violation of the criminal law, and it is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the State of New York’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
