His Office’s 2022 Annual Report

 

Describing Highlights of Office Operations in 2022

 

Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler released his Office’s 2022 Annual Report on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. The report describes details of the Office’s operations last year. A few highlights of the report include:

  • In 2022 the Orange County District Attorney’s Office had a 100% conviction rate on all felony jury trials.
  • The District Attorney’s Office achieved unprecedented results in the prosecution of illegal weapons cases.
  • The District Attorney’s Office continued a thriving partnership with Hudson Valley Veterans Affairs promoting veterans’ wellbeing and the development of a Veterans Court for felony cases.
  • There were over 225 appearances at community events made by District Attorney Hoovler and his staff.
  • There was increased spending by the District Attorney’s Office in support of local law enforcement efforts, funds for police agencies to purchase body-worn cameras and for construction of a new wing at the Police Chiefs’ Association of Orange County Police Academy.
  • The District Attorney’s Office conducted multiple training sessions for local police departments regarding law enforcement issues.
  • The District Attorney’s Office continued steadfast prosecution of large-scale drug trafficking organizations, including an investigation which resulted in the arrest of over thirty defendants from the Port Jervis area.
  • Multiple District Attorney staff members were recognized for exceptional service. 
  • A new Chief Investigator, Rudolph Simmons, was appointed to replace the former Chief Investigator, who became the Undersheriff.
  • District Attorney Hoovler and his Office continued an unwavering campaign to increase pay for local police agencies and prosecutors.   

“In 2023, I look forward to building on our successes and aggressively combatting the dual scourges of illegal weapons possession and narcotics,” said District Attorney Hoovler. “My staff will continue to do all in our power to keep Orange County safe from repeat offenders who remain on our streets due to recent changes in the law.”
