Goshen, N.Y. – Orange County is hosting a workshop to encourage potential Orange County homebuyers to take advantage of the down payment assistance programs available throughout the County. The City of Middletown along with PathStone and Key Bank are joining the County to host the forum.

The workshop will be held on Saturday, April 7th from 10:30 a.m. until noon in the Community Room on the second floor of Middletown Thrall Library, located at 11 Depot Street. The event is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be provided.

“Homeownership provides stability and strengthens our community,” Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus said. “I encourage those who are income eligible to attend this workshop to learn about the homeowner assistance programs that are available to them.”

The Orange County Office of Community Development provides up to $10,000 towards down payment assistance or closing costs to eligible homebuyers of properties across Orange County. For residential properties within the city limits of Middletown, the Middletown Homeowner Program may partner with the County to provide assistance.

“We strive daily to make the City of Middletown a place that attracts and retains homeowners. The resurgence of our neighborhoods is in many ways due to the quality and affordability of our housing stock,” City of Middletown Mayor Joe DeStefano said.

“We are proud to participate in this outstanding workshop and highlight our programs which have a tremendous success rate to help people obtain and keep their homes” said Eileen Clifford, PathStone’s Housing Director.

KeyBank mortgage representatives will also be on hand to discuss Key’s Community Mortgage® program, which provides up to 100% financing with no MPI insurance to eligible homebuyers, along with KeyBank’s other affordable home loan products.   Key believes in helping customers and communities thrive, and has committed $5 billion over five years in affordable home lending to support low to moderate income individuals and communities.

“This is a great opportunity for residents to learn about the many products KeyBank has available to assist individuals in becoming homeowners,” said Gail Stellato, CDB Loan Officer of KeyBank. “We are excited to sponsor this event and look forward to working with our partners to support homeownership.”

Individual’s interested in attending are encouraged to reserve seats by emailing commdev@orangecountygov.com or calling the Orange County Community Development Office at 615-3820.
