Goshen, N.Y. – Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus released the following statement on Friday after Senator John J. Bonacic announced that he will not seek re-election to the New York State Senate.

Bonacic’s career in politics spanned more than four decades. He served as an Orange County Legislator, as Chairman of the County Legislature, as an Assemblyman, and most recently as a Senator.

“John Bonacic is one of the most dedicated men that I have ever met in public service,” Neuhaus said. “I interned for him when I was in college and he was a State Assemblyman. Since then, Senator Bonacic has been very helpful to me and I appreciate everything that he has done for Orange County and New York State. I wish Senator Bonacic and his family all my best in what is a well-deserved retirement.”
