Goshen, N.Y. – In response to the extensive damage sustained throughout Orange County by Tuesday’s intense storms, Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus is waiving tipping fees for residents and municipalities for the disposal of storm related wood debris at the New Hampton Solid Waste Transfer Station.
This initiative, which is part of the County’s Disaster Debris Management program, is offered to assist municipalities and residents recovering from severe weather incidents. Orange County’s Division of Environmental Facilities and Services is requiring that all wood-based disaster debris be delivered to the New Hampton Transfer Station separated from all other types of waste. The disaster debris may be brought to the Transfer Stations by municipal vehicles, contracted vendors of municipalities, contracted tree removal services with supporting documentation and private vehicles.
The program is designated for wood debris (excluding stumps) generated by the storms that struck Orange County and only trees, branches and leaves will be collected. The tipping fees for all other items will remain in effect. Storm related wood debris may be delivered to the Orange County Solid Waste Transfer in New Hampton on the following days: Thursday, May 17th, Friday, May 18th, Saturday, May 19th and Monday, May 21st. The transfer station is located on 21 Training Center Lane in New Hampton. It is open from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. until noon on Saturdays.
