Goshen, N.Y. – Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus announced on Thursday that Bill Fioravanti has been named the County’s Director of Economic Development.

“Bill has vast and impressive experience in business, community and economic development and I know that he will be an asset to Orange County,” Neuhaus said. “During his career, Bill has demonstrated a commitment to economic development in our region and has diligently pursued new opportunities which deliver well-paying jobs that benefit our economy. I’m sure that Bill will help Orange County remain a leader in business attraction and economic development. He is the right person to take on this new position.”

Fioravanti, a City of Newburgh resident, most recently served as the Orange County Partnership’s Director of Business Attraction for more than four years. His responsibilities included attracting small businesses and large corporations to the County, creating jobs and investment in several municipalities. Fioravanti collaborated with a variety of agencies and officials at the local, state and federal levels.

Prior to joining the Partnership, Fioravanti was the Associate Executive Director of the YMCA of Middletown. He was previously the executive director for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Orange and Sullivan Counties. Fioravanti received his Bachelor’s degree in Management and Technology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2001.

“Bill brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience to this position,” said Steve Brescia, Chairman of the Orange County Legislature. “He knows the Hudson Valley very well and will play a pivotal role in business expansion and economic development in Orange County. We all look forward to working with Bill.”

The Director of Economic Development’s responsibilities will include developing policies, procedures and programs which enhance economic growth and activities in Orange County. The Director will also implement programs to retain, restore and expand the commercial and industrial tax base, while facilitating their expansion. In addition, the Director will direct and monitor program activities, including business attraction, entrepreneurial development, film and video location, tourism and international trade promotion, and project financing. The newly created County position will work with existing economic development agencies to capitalize on and further develop Orange County’s economic development position.

“I believe that I have the skills, experience and professional working relationships to make an immediate impact as Orange County’s Director of Economic Development,” Fioravanti said. “I expect to build on the economic success that we have created here and I’m eager to get to work. I look forward to collaborating with County Executive Neuhaus, the Legislature, the County’s municipalities and the local and regional economic development focused agencies.”

Fioravanti is expected to start at the end of June.
