District Attorney Hoovler Joined by Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois, New York State Police Major Pierce Gallagher and 

 City of Newburgh Police Chief Douglas Solomon, Announce the Arrest of (7) Subjects for Prostitution and Patronizing a Prostitute.  

 

The City of Newburgh Police Department, Orange County Drug Task Force and New York State Police – Troop F, Community Narcotics Enforcement Team, Charges (4) Defendants with Prostitution and (3) Defendants with Patronizing a Prostitute.


City of Newburgh, NY - On June 27, 2018 the City of Newburgh Police Department, Orange County Drug Task Force and New York State Police – Troop F, Community Narcotics Enforcement Team, conducted a joint “Prostitution sting”, in the City of Newburgh, N.Y. Four (4) females were arrested and charged with Prostitution, a Class “B” misdemeanor.

Three (3) males were arrested and charged with Patronizing a Prostitute 3rd Degree, a Class “A” misdemeanor. 

“Prostitution is not a ‘victimless crime’,” said District Attorney Hoovler. “It denigrates the lives of those who find themselves compelled to become prostitutes, and destroys the quality of life of those residing and working in those neighborhoods. My office will continue to seek dispositions where those who have acted as prostitutes can get the assistance they need to escape that destructive lifestyle, and will continue to punish those who patronize prostitutes.”

Matilda Garrison – W/F, (50) -176 Ulster Ave. Walden, N.Y. Charges: Prostitution – ROR – C/Newburgh Court, June 28, 2018, 9:00am

Samantha M. Budrow – W/F, (28) - 99 Prince St. Maybrook, N.Y.  Charges: Prostitution – ROR – C/Newburgh Court, June 28, 2018, 9:00am

Alberto Lopez-Rivera – H/M, (43) -7 S. Johnston St. Newburgh, N.Y. Charges: Patronizing a Prostitute 3rd – ROR – C/Newburgh Court, June 28, 2018, 9:00am

Additional Information:

           On June 27, 2018 during this investigation, Undercover police officers were conducting surveillance on Washington and Federal St. in Newburgh, New York when they observed a female subject, fall to the ground unconscious. Nearby uniformed patrol officers were called and responded to the scene. Upon arrival the officers treated the female subject as a possible overdose victim and administered “NARCAN” The female subject immediately regained consciousness and refused further medical assistance from responding EMS –Unit.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation by the police that a defendant has committed a violation of the criminal law, and it is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the State of New York’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
