Goshen, N.Y. – Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus has recognized Gerry Hluchan as August’s Citizen of the Month Award for his continued dedication to the Goshen community.

“If there is an event taking place in Goshen, Gerry is likely an integral part of it, or attached to it in some way,” Neuhaus said. “He cares that much about the community and its residents. Gerry does much of his work behind the scenes and does not seek attention. However, his hard work and generosity is appreciated by many and should be recognized.”

Hluchan has been a Middletown resident for 40 years. He owns a business, Gerard Associates Consulting Engineers, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in February. Hluchan moved the business to Goshen in 2008 and said he felt an immediate connection to the community and has been involved in a variety of events in the Village of Goshen for 10 years.

Hluchan has donated space in his building for the Keys of Goshen Public Piano Project and has installed the lights for Illuminate Goshen. He serves on the Great American Weekend Committee and sits on the Goshen Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors. Hluchan has also been instrumental in the planning and organizing of the Goshen Art Walks.

“Gerry Hluchan is a dedicated volunteer in our community and I appreciate that County Executive Neuhaus has recognized him for all of his hard work and efforts,” Village of Goshen Mayor Kyle Roddey said. “He goes above and beyond to help others and to support local initiatives. Gerry never seeks pats on the back, but this recognition is well deserved.”

Neuhaus introduced his Citizen of the Month Award, which acknowledges outstanding Orange County residents, in January of 2017.
