District Attorney Hoovler Announces Sentencing in
Highland Falls Child Sex Abuse Case
Defendant Sentenced to Fifteen Years in Prison
for Abusing Three Separate Victims
Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, Anthony Martinez, age 19, of Highland Falls, was sentenced before Orange County Court Judge Robert H. Freehill in connection with his previous guilty pleas to three counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree. Martinez received three sentences of five years in prison, one for each of his three victims, with all the sentences to run consecutively, for a total aggregate term of fifteen years in prison, together with a ten-year period of post-release supervision.
At the time Martinez pled guilty, he admitted having subjected three children, each under the age of eleven, to sexual contact. Martinez was eighteen years old at the time that he committed the acts of sexual abuse that he pled guilty to.
District Attorney Hoovler thanked the New York State Police for their investigation of the case and the arrest of Martinez.
“The sexual abuse of children cannot be tolerated,” said District Attorney Hoovler, “and my staff is dedicated to bringing sexual abusers to justice. The disposition of this defendant’s case will remove him from society for about a decade and a half, so that he will not be able to abuse other children for that significant period.”
District Attorney Hoovler commended Senior Assistant District Attorney Michael Milza and Assistant District Attorney Jessica Dovico for their efforts in prosecuting the case.
