Goshen, N.Y. – Orange County’s Division of Fire Services is seeking volunteers for departments throughout the County.
“Being a volunteer firefighter is a rewarding experience and provides a wonderful opportunity to serve our community,” said Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus, a past graduate of the County’s Fire Training Program. “It is a gratifying feeling to know that you have helped someone in a time of need. Our volunteer firefighters are a part of the fabric of our communities and we are grateful for their service.”
The Division of Fire Services has kicked off a recruitment campaign on social media and on billboards throughout the County. Some of the other benefits that may be available to volunteer firefighters include tax incentives, college tuition assistance and pension programs. Volunteer firefighters are trained and equipped professionally to protect their communities. All required training is free.
“Being a volunteer firefighter is about a lot more than just putting out fires,” said Deputy Commissioner of Fire Services Vini Tankasali. “It’s an opportunity to learn cutting edge skills that prepare you to help members of your community when they need it most. Being a volunteer firefighter is very fulfilling and we appreciate the support of the County Executive and the Legislature on our recruitment campaign.”
