Goshen, N.Y. - Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus announced on Wednesday that Nicole Andersen has been named the County’s Community Development Director.

“We are very fortunate to have someone as talented as Nicole to lead our Community Development department,” Neuhaus said. “Nicole has a diverse background and brings a variety of ideas to the table. We have the utmost confidence in Nicole and know she will do a wonderful job.”

Andersen’s responsibilities as Community Development Director will include formulating program policies, preparing the County’s annual community development grant application and coordinating and supervising all community development and housing projects covered under the program.

She previously worked as the Director of Grants in the County’s Planning Department and has an extensive background in grant development as a Certified Grant Professional (GPC). Prior to coming to Orange County government, Andersen served as the Director of Development and Communications for The Arc of Orange County.

Andersen has more than 20 years of professional experience. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and History from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1996. Andersen earned her Master’s Degree in American Studies from the College of William and Mary in 1997.

“I’m thankful to County Executive Neuhaus for giving me the opportunity to serve as the County’s Director of Community Development,” Andersen said. “I understand that the Office of Community Development plays a crucial role in providing important resources for our residents and municipalities. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with County Executive Neuhaus, the Legislature and my talented staff.”

The Community Development Director position is subject to confirmation by the Orange County Legislature. Andersen will be presented for confirmation in the coming weeks.
