Goshen, N.Y. - Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus announced on Wednesday that the County’s Airport in Montgomery has been awarded $1.5 million to extend the facility’s municipal water system through Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Aviation Capital Grant Program, which supports safety, infrastructure, and economic development.

“Orange County Airport has been very aggressive in applying for and securing grants,” Neuhaus said. “That is the result of good management by our Director of Aviation, Ed Magryta, who has received $4 million in state and federal grant funds for aviation projects over the last five years. This award demonstrates the continuing importance and viability of Orange County airport as an integral part of my administration’s economic development strategy.”

The state awarded $23.6 million in infrastructure funding to support safety enhancements, modernization of facilities, operational improvements and local business development at 31 airports statewide. Projects awarded include the construction of passenger amenities such as new wayfinding technologies, construction of new airplane hangars and fuel facilities, enhancements to safety and security, and expansion of vehicular parking facilities. These activities will help make the communities surrounding these airports more economically competitive.

Orange County Airport is the second-largest non-commercial/general aviation airport in New York. With more than 170 based-aircraft and 300 average daily operations, the facility serves the corporate and general aviation market in the lower Hudson Valley.
