Goshen, N.Y. – Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus released the following statement on Wednesday about the passing of former County Legislator James Wright. Wright died on Tuesday at the age of 87.

Representing New Windsor, Wright served as an Orange County Legislator from 1970-1997. He was also one of the first members of the Stewart Airport Commission and served as its chairman until two years ago.

“I knew Jim for more than 20 years,” Neuhaus said. “He was an honest and hard-working County Legislator. When we served together on the Stewart Airport Commission, he was always the most knowledgeable and prepared person in the room. Jim was charming and witty and will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family."
