[ARCHIVED] Orange County and Hudson Highlands Nature Museum holding a compost bin and rainwater barrel sale

Goshen, N.Y. – In honor of International Compost Awareness Week, Orange County’s Division of Environmental Facilities and Services is collaborating with the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum in Cornwall on a compost bin and rainwater barrel sale.

The goal of the collaboration is to raise public awareness about the benefits of reducing solid waste sent to the landfill as well as using compost to improve or maintain high quality soil, to grow healthy plants, reduce the use of fertilizer and pesticides, improve water quality and protect the environment. 

Pre-orders of bins, barrels and other compost related items can be made on the website at orangecompostersale.ecwid.com/. The deadline for pre-orders is Thursday, April 25th. Pick up of bins, barrels and other pre-ordered items will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 27th at the Earth Day Celebration at the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum, located on 120 Muser Drive in Cornwall.  Pre-orders must be conducted online. 

Only a limited number of items will be available for sale on the day of the event. All orders must be picked up on the day of the distribution event.  Any orders not collected by the end of the event will be temporarily held and, if not claimed, donated to local non-profit organizations, charities, and/or schools.
