Goshen, N.Y. – Forty-four paintings by award-winning artist Mitchell Saler, a Middletown resident, are now on display at the Stony Ford Golf Course in Campbell Hall.
Saler’s work includes landscapes, seascapes and still lifes in his realistic style. Stony Ford, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this month, is hosting a reception with Saler from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18th. Light refreshments will be served.
Saler’s exhibit is open for viewing daily from 7:00 a.m.to 7:00 p.m. at Stony Ford, located at 211 Route 416.
“I am thrilled to be showing so many of my paintings at this beautiful location,” Saler said. “It is an honor to be provided this opportunity by (Orange) County Executive Steve Neuhaus and Parks Commissioner Jim Brooks. Stony Ford is a beautiful golf course and I’m ecstatic to be a part of its 50th anniversary celebration.”
Saler’s paintings encompass scenes of the local Hudson Valley area, the Catskills, the Finger Lakes region, Block Island, and more. In his landscapes, he enjoys conveying vastness, dramatic lighting, and atmospheric effects. The works are in oil, except for one piece, which is in watercolor, a medium the artist has a renewed interest in exploring.
Saler is a member of the Salmagundi Club, a Board Member of the Wallkill River School, Membership Chair of the Goshen Art League, a member of the Orange County Arts Council and the Middletown Art Group. He graduated with an Associate Degree in Visual Arts from SUNY Orange and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from SUNY New Paltz. New Paltz awarded him the Alex Martin Scholarship and he has received awards in various art exhibits. Saler teaches an art class at the Mulberry House Senior Center as well as private lessons.
