Goshen, N.Y. – Orange County Office for the Aging Director AnnMarie Maglione and County officials participated in the Office for the Aging’s Big Wheels Deliver Meals Program on Thursday morning, bringing meals to homebound seniors throughout Orange County.

“We appreciate that the County Executive’s Office supports the Big Wheels Deliver Meals Program and the Senior Dining Program,” Maglione said. “Providing seniors with a nutritious, delicious meal helps keep them healthy and living independently at home. Meal delivery is only part of the program. Very often, the volunteer delivering the meal is the only socialization that senior may have, and that companionship is invaluable.”

The Office for the Aging is committed to meeting the needs of Orange County’s senior population and their families and friends who care for them, by offering services, either directly or through subcontractors, designed to maintain the quality of life of those aged 60 and over. Volunteers for Orange County’s Home Delivered Meals program are needed from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Monday through Friday. Schedules can be arranged to meet the volunteer’s availability. To volunteer, or to apply to receive meal delivery contact the Office for the Aging at 615-3703.

“I always look forward to this wonderful event and it was an honor to go out and meet those who volunteer so much of their time to the Big Wheels Deliver Meals program,” said Orange County Sheriff Carl E. DuBois, who delivered meals in Mount Hope. His route included Anita Goldsmith, who was his teacher at Otisville Elementary and Minisink Valley Elementary Schools in the early-1960s.

“It was also great to meet the seniors who are so important to the fabric of Orange County,” DuBois added.
