Goshen, N.Y. – Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus has recognized Sal and Peggy Lucido as March’s Citizens of the Month for their continued dedication to the Town of Wallkill community.

“Sal and Peggy are an integral part of the Town of Wallkill and care deeply about the community and its residents,” Neuhaus said. “The couple performs much of their work behind the scenes and never seek attention for their good deeds. Through their volunteerism, Sal and Peggy have had a positive impact on hundreds of people. Their hard work, humility and generosity is appreciated by many and I’m glad to recognize them both.”

The Lucido’s were nominated for the Citizen of the Month Award by Orange County Legislator Rob Sassi. The couple are active members of the Wallkill East Rotary Club service organization. They have spearheaded pancake breakfasts, coat drives, road clean-ups, coordinated volunteer efforts with the Salvation Army and birthday parties for children at HONOR in Middletown.

Peggy serves as the Rotary Club’s Community Service Chair and is a member of the Middletown Business and Women’s professional group. Sal Lucido is a past Rotary Club President and serves on several Rotary committees.

He is also a member Town of Wallkill Police Department’s Community Council and Youth Coalition and is a Board Member of the Tri-County Community Partnership. The couple, who have been married for 41 years, are active with St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bullville.

They moved to the Town of Wallkill from Rockland County 13 years ago and work together at Primerica Financial Services.

“We have been blessed, and we decided when we moved back here that we wanted to give back for all of our blessings,” Sal said. “We enjoy getting involved in the community, giving back and sharing with others.”

Added Peggy: “We understand the value of being involved and we encourage others to consider doing more. We appreciate the County Executive’s support and his recognition of our work.”
