May 3-9th is National Children's Mental Health Awareness week !
Today, May 7th, is National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day and is observed each year to reduce stigma and raise awareness about the importance of children's mental health and how vital positive mental health is to a child's development. This years theme is: Bringing Mental Health Into Focus 20/20 Please take a look at the attached flyer to learn the facts and some of the resources that are available to raise awareness and address Children's Mental Health needs! We recognize that this year the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) may be causing added stress for people. Fear and anxiety about a disease can be overwhelming and cause strong emotions in adults and children. - National Nurses Week celebrated annually on May 6- May12th to raise awareness of the important role nurses play in society.
- National Teachers Appreciation Week celebrated May 4-8th in recognition of teachers and the contributions they make to education and society.
- National Foster Care Awareness Month acknowledging foster parents, family members, volunteers, mentors, policymakers, child welfare professionals, and other members of the community who help children and youth in foster care find permanent homes and connections.
- National Prevention Week is May 10th-16th and is dedicated to increasing public awareness of, and action around, mental health and/or substance use disorders.
